Yoga is a gift, for my body and my spirit…
I started practicing yoga 9 years ago, as prescribed by my physical therapist. I had serious imbalances in my body, which became very apparent after running my first marathon, causing me injury and a forced time-out from running.
Initially, I went to yoga for the physical practice, to strengthen and lengthen my muscles. I quickly discovered it was much more. I fell in love with yoga and began to crave the peace I felt after my practice. I wanted to share the joy of yoga with others, so I started teaching friends. And that friend told that friend, and that friend told that friend, and so on and so on…
Two years later, I was certified with Ganga White and Tracey Rich, at White Lotus. I have worked with many great teachers over the years, which has inspired me to learn more and go deeper in my practice; that is the beauty of yoga-there is always more to learn! I was certified in Thai massage (referred to as "lazy man's yoga") 4 years ago, and I have completed Moksha training with Daren Friesen.
I love to share the wonderful physical and therapeutic benefits yoga offers; more importantly, I enjoy inspiring my students to open their mind to all of the possibilities-to the deeper layers of yoga. Yoga, to me, is a practice of the heart-breathing into the heart, opening the heart, moving from the heart; this creates stability and ease throughout the practice. Hopefully, what we learn in our practice, we take into our lives.
My intention is to create a safe and peaceful space for my students, to laugh when they fall and to celebrate the little triumphs-that sweet moment when you go upside down for the first time or when you conquer the pose that has challenged you for years. I want to guide them and encourage them to listen and connect to the true teacher-the wisdom of their body and their true Self.
