Ellen Humphrey
Ellen Humphrey is a licensed physical therapist with 25 years experience in orthopedics, sports medicine and women's health. She is a well-regarded clinician known for her good-natured, calm, caring professional manner. Ellen is creator of Posture Palooza, LLC a private physical therapy practice with three unique new services in association with Sanctuary Yoga in Highwood:
- Private Physical Therapy Services: prescription exercise, post surgical rehabilitation, soft tissue massage, joint mobilization, strength, flexibility and balance training
- Posture Screening: using a unique body alignment evaluation method combining photographic postural grid analysis with a comprehensive musculoskeletal exam
- Happy Feet: an evaluation for runners/walkers that includes a foot structure and gait evaluation employing video feedback for client education and foot orthotics if needed.
Ellen's programs are designed to empower her clients to make lasting changes to improve their health and return to sports and activities of daily living with greater strength, balance and comfort.
Ellen uses a diverse treatment approach drawing from select holistic and medical traditions as needed by a client's needs and goals. She specializes in posture, gait and foot structure evaluation and has advanced manual therapy certification that facilitates successful treatment of the spine and extremities. Ellen also casts and provides custom foot orthotics.
Ellen graduated in 1985 with a Masters in Physical Therapy from Stanford University. She has published and lectured extensively and served on faculty at Northwestern University Dept. of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences and Boston University Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.
