Christy O'Brien
Everyone comes to their yoga mat with a unique set of motivating factors. Some practice purely for physical health while others may be inspired to heal emotionally or gain spiritual insight. Through her lighthearted and compassionate style, Christy strives to honor each student’s motivation with physical and mindful cues that will build a strong foundation for their practice.
Consistently bringing students back to their breath and offering physical adjustments and cues are critical components of each class, offering students the opportunity to bring their practice to the next level. Christy encourages students to explore the strengths and challenges of their body and mind at the present moment. She also seeks to inspire students to become peacefully alert as they move from their mats into their daily lives.
Having obtained her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Denver in 1999, Christy’s career background is in social work and administration. She credits the lessons learned in her work with people of many different backgrounds and abilities as critical teachings on how to be a peaceful warrior in helping each person realize their unique potential.
Christy is certified by the Yoga Alliance and has completed the Moksha Yoga 200 hour Teacher Training Program under the
guidance and support of Daren Friesen. She is continually learning from her students, her teachers, and her family who are always willing to help her grow through patience, humor and love. !
