Amanda Small
Amanda comes from a successful career in the non-profit world, having worked in event planning and fundraising. She found it rewarding to be part of a team working towards a larger goal - benefiting others.
As a yoga teacher and partner in Sanctuary Yoga Studio, her energy continues to be directed towards a higher goal - the health, awareness, and well being of her students and the community.
Amanda began a yoga practice after a particularly long, cold winter spent dealing with yet another lower back "episode." Her plan was to stretch muscles, strengthen her core, and ward off future problems. Through a regular and consistent practice, she accomplished these goals and found so much more, an avenue for self-discovery.
Amanda is a Certified Yoga Teacher, completing her Foundation 200 hour teacher training with Daren Friesen of Moksha Yoga Center. Her training is rooted in the classical yoga tradition stretching back for centuries. In addition, she has studied with master teacher Aadil Palkhivala, and many local teachers who have opened her eyes to the beauty of the body and breath connection that yoga teaches.
As a native Mississippian, hospitality is part of Amanda's DNA. Her goal is to create a warm and welcoming environment for her students. She firmly believes that yoga is for everyone - every age, every body type, and every stage of life. She also believes that yoga can surprise everyone - you can be surprised at your body's abilities, your capacity for focus and attention, and most importantly, your connection to your inner self and the world around you.
